Psychological Expertise
Most clients tell us that, in essence, the difference between success and failure is to do with the way in which people are able to work together, and how they can be enabled to really bring their skills into the organisation, and learn and change.

We have a view that organisations are networks of human beings. These human beings are in relationship with each other inside the organisation and outside it. All of these relationships have the capacity to enhance or limit individual and organisational capability.

Furthermore, humans, like organisations, exhibit complexity, which means that they are not completely predictable. A core capability for many employees is therefore to be able to know what is predictable and work skilfully with that, as well as understand what is uncertain, and also work skilfully with that.

Psychology has a long history of research and practice of great relevance to these challenges. Answered questions include:
  • How do adults develop psychologically?
  • What is the impact of this development on capacity to learn and ability to deal with uncertainty?
  • What makes people react differently to each other in similar circumstances?
  • What promotes confidence and accelerated capability development?
  • What enhances good decision making?

Psychologists Who Understand Organisations
The majority of Irving Allan consultants are chartered psychologists. Educated to at least Masters level, they have followed a structured programme of supervised and logged practice before being assessed as competent for independent practice as psychologists by the British Psychological Society. They have gone on to careers in which their practice has been continually challenged and honed. They have a broad range of specialised psychological qualifications beyond chartership and are very skilled in the application of psychology to effect change both in individuals and across organisations.

The majority of Irving Allan consultants also have experience as organisational 'insiders', whether in corporate development roles or as managers and leaders in a variety of profit and not-for-profit enterprises. We are pragmatic and business focused, competent and ethical.

Our organisational and psychological expertise combined mean we can work at some depth with people in organisations, identifying and unsticking patterns that are unhelpful and working to create ones that are more beneficial and productive. We enable people to change the way change happens in their organisations.
